An Amazing Day

Words are difficult to describe the awesomeness of the Spirit of God this Sunday. The Holy Spirit ministered to young, old, new christians, and old christians. It was a blessed day. When the we ask for those wanting prayer to come forward it seemed to start slow. One came, then another, and then another. However with each prayer the Lord seemed to fill the place more and more. The Spirit of God came in wave after wave. People came forward saying “I believe God is going to heal ...” and then we prayed. Several left saying they were certain God had heard their prayers and was confident God had healed them and was healing them. One lady stated she had never felt God like she felt Sunday morning. One young lady gave her life back over to God while several others came on their own to pray in the alters for a closer walk with God. Tears, shouts, worship, and freedom are just a few words that could be used to describe what happened during this service. At about 20 minutes after noon most everyone was still in the church and not in any rush to leave. In fact people left very slow, still enjoy the sweet Holy Spirit. When our evening service came several came early just talking about the morning service and how God ministered. It was so wonderful to hear the testimonies of how God touched each one. While Sunday night was different, the day was capped off by a women, who has been away from God a long time, came in the door with tears in her eyes. At the end of the service she came forward to pray and to turn her life back over to God. The only way to describe it was she ‘prayed through’ until she knew something was different.

Heritage Day at the Park

This year's Heritage Day at Fields of the Wood will be a great event for people of all ages! Beginning at 10 AM one June 11, 2011, the day will be filled with excitement and great opportunities for fellowship. Inflatables and games for kids, gospel concerts, nostalgic snacks, and helicopter rides are just a few of the items we have planned! We will also be reintroducing the "White Angel Fleet" airplane to the park. Reassembled, visitors will have the opportunity to view the plane and interact with some of the pilots who flew these planes around the world sharing the gospel.

Hello Everyone,

I am so happy to report that we have just returned from another wonderful trip to Haiti. The team was composed of four from the Acworth, Georgia church, six from Salisbury, Maryland, one from Toronto, Canada, and one from Cleveland, Tennessee.

Our mission was to put roofs on two large churches, and it seemed a daunting task to say the least. When we arrived, the LaSalle church of more than two hundred, was worshipping under an old tin roof that was hanging low just above the heads of the congregation. We worshipped with this congregation on Sunday morning May 15, and the Spirit of God was evident. The choir sang for us, and their voices were absolutely beautiful together. After Sunday morning worship, we went back to our compound and began designing new trusses for this building. It soon became evident that we would have to modify our plans in order to accomplish our task but the team was ready for the challenge. By Wednesday afternoon this church had a new roof (see pictures below).

The second church was Merger, and it sat upon a hill overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful property, but this church of five hundred was worshipping under a tarp that gave very little protection from the elements. The building was so wide that we had to abandon our initial plans to use wood trusses, and the trusses had to be constructed out of steel and welded together. This is a much slower process so part of the team worked on these steel trusses at Merger while the others worked at LaSalle. It was a major ordeal to set these steel trusses in place, and it took 15 to 20 men (Haitian and Americans) working together to accomplish the task. However, I am excited to report that this roof is complete, and the church is now gathering under a beautiful building from which the Gospel will flow.

I cannot say enough about the men and women pictured below as well as previous teams and our Haitian brothers and sisters who have all worked together to make these dreams come true. If you ever thought about going on a mission trip to Haiti, now is the time, and I would welcome your questions.

The picture above is the church at Merger when we arrived, and you can see the tarp that they were having church under. One day while we were working, a heavy rain moved in, and the tarp offered very little protection. I told the pastor that we could build the roof, but we could not do so in that kind of weather. The church began to pray and sing, and in a little while a blue sky began to appear and the rain ceased. Although it rained at night, we were never hindered by the rain again even though it is the rainy season in Haiti.

The team sure worked hard, and for our efforts the church prepared a Haitian banquet for us that included fried chicken and all the fixings.

This is how we found the church at LaSalle. This old roof was torn off and replaced within three days.

Statement Released Concerning ARKS Report

Dear Members and Friends: 

Since the release of the ARKS Report in October 2010, we have been involved in an ongoing period of prayer and dialogue. I would like to thank all who participated in that dialogue through the ARKS survey, calls, e-mails, letters, etc. I would also like to express my appreciation to the many pastors that I have been privileged to share with face-to-face during these months. Your voice and prayer support are an important part of this process. 

I want to take the opportunity to share with you the results of the ARKS Survey and bring you up-to-date on where we are in this period of discernment:

Considering the current market conditions, the prospects of finding a suitable buyer for the International Offices building seems unlikely. In this economic environment, we would be better served to renovate the existing building over a three-to-five-year period, as funds are available.
A recommendation will not be made to the Assembly to sell Fields of the Wood. Presently, support from the field seems to be the best way to deal with the ongoing budget deficit for the park. We will continue to maintain the park, and the level of support will be monitored. Consistent support from the field is imperative.
It would seem that the Tomlinson College Campus can serve the needs of a college and provide an ongoing revenue stream. A period of discernment is still needed to determine the best uses and develop a strategic plan for this property.

Please continue to pray that God will lead us as to the best use of our properties. We want to be good stewards of our resources and remain faithful to the pursuit of our core values-prayer, the harvest, and leadership development.

Needs Your Help!

Etowah County VOAD is asking for volunteers to assist the Department of Human Resources during their supplemental Food Stamp Allotment for those in Etowah County who suffered food or other loss during the recent storms that affected our area.

Volunteers are needed at First Baptist Church of Gadsden, 235 S 5th Street on Wednesday, May 18 - Saturday, May 21 to assist with the following tasks: Greeting, Grounds keeping, Hospitality, Supply Runners, Parking attendants, Interpreters, and other various tasks. Volunteers are needed each day as follows:

6 am - 10 am

10 am - 2 pm

2 pm - 6 pm

Volunteers able to assist during these hours are asked to contact First Call For Help at 256-546-4357.

Volunteers will report to the Canopy in the parking lot across from Gadsden Convention Hall prior to each shift.

Helping Cherokee County Tornado Relief

I was sent this information on how to help people recover from the recent tornadoes in our county. As in many areas the work is cleaning up debris. Here is some information on where and when to volunteer.

Cherokee EMA, Point of contact is Beverly Daniels at Goshen United Methodist Church, 625 Hwy. 9 South in Centre. (Travel north from Piedmont about ¼ mile north of the Calhoun county line. Church is on the left. Look for FEMA bus in the parking lot.) Approximately 30 homes were destroyed near Goshen. Ten (10) volunteers are needed each day at the Goshen United Methodist Church beginning at 8 AM Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (May 11-13, 2011) for debris clean up. Meet at the church for transport to the various homes which are near the church.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a great day at Leesburg Church. We had a wonderful program to honor our mothers. Bro. Harley Lamey blessed the mothers with both words and videos to share the humor and the seriousness of the value of moms. Happy Mother's Day.

To cap off the program, a short sermon was given from 1 Samuel chapters 1 and 2. We often mention Hannah giving Samuel to the Lord as a dedication. Yet Hannah showed us several lessons for us to all learn from. She taught us the value of true prayer, faith in God for her prayers, faithfulness to honor her commitments to God, and she was a worshipper. As a young child she literally gave Samuel to God. In doing so she help Samuel fulfill a great call on His life. As parents we are to all desire nothing greater than for our children to serve God and please Him. Not the things of this world or its passions. Rather complete dedication to Him.

Sunday was a glorious day. During the morning service the Holy Spirit blessed us in so many ways. As some came up for prayer for their bodies, God blessed them Spiritually as well. Our dear Spiritual Mother of 91 danced and was slain in the Spirit while another sister danced before the Lord as the Spirit moved her. Many were lost in a state of worship. Praise God! Our sermon was simply about taking up the Yoke of Christ. Work with Him, Learn from Him, Grow with Him, and Trust Him. As we work alongside of the Lord, it is easy and it is light.

Sunday night we was blessed by Tanner Gann. Tanner is 16 and did a amazing job preaching the Gospel. He was anointed and he was full of the Spirit. He shared with us about regaining order in our lives. The Glory of the Lord follows order. If we will get our lives and our churches in order the Glory of the Lord will show up in a real way that our senses can experience. Praise God- Let’s get our lives in order - We desire the Full Glory of the Lord!!!

Lighten your Load

Sunday was an amazing day. The Spirit of the Lord was so powerful and so gentle. During the worship one lady came and was worshiping and seeking the Lord in the altar. The sermon was about Jesus’ call to lighten our load as he spoke in Matthew 11:28- ‘Come unto me.. all who are heavy and I will give you rest.’ The Lord had spoke clearly during the week that some were heavy and needed to lighten their load. The verse is clear but at the same time the depths of it are also powerful. If you are heavy with life (job, money, family, stress, or any problem) HE WILL GIVE you rest. It is free. If you are heavy with sin- He WILL GIVE YOU REST- a Renewal. If you are burdened down with the weight of religion and not relationship- Come He will give you REST. The key is that we COME. The promise is for rest. The requirement is us to come. And that is what many did at the end the sermon. Several came seeking the Lord and God blessed. One lady shared both at the end of service and then on another day how her load had become almost unbearable. She said it was just what was special ordered for her.

How wonderful is our Savior, who designs things just for us.

Join us this Sunday morning as we finish the chapter and see what Jesus directs us to after we have came to Him.

Be Anxious for Nothing

Sunday was a wonderful day at Leesburg Church. While it is wonderful to gather with our brothers and sisters it makes all the difference for the Holy Spirit to breath upon His people as they gather. The Spirit of God was real and we praise God for it.

Sunday morning brought the Word of God on the subject ‘Be Anxious for Nothing.’ Paul writes to us in Phillipians that we should not be worried, or ‘anxious’ for anything. We know the God who created the universe. We live in a day that has endless reasons to worry. From health, to finances, to family, to tradgedy, to world events, and the worry of tommorow. We have reason to be worried or anxious in our own flesh. Yet Paul directs us to a higher reality that we don’t need to be worried. If we will press into God and give it all to Him we will find God’s peace and not our worries. This is not to pray in fear but to give things in prayer and trust in God. Paul ends this text with some direction of our thoughts that will keep our hearts full of peace.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)

We again were blessed by God with the presence of the Holy Spirit!!

I can only Imagine

First Sundays are always great at Leesburg Church. It is always a blessing to have our children come out and participate in worship and even lead us in a few songs as well. This one was no different. While some are shy, others are not, and they are trying to remember all the words, and sometimes you get glimpses of that pure heart wanting to worship. Thank God for children who can teach us if we will let them!

We were also blessed to have our Drama Team minister to us through a song entitled “I AM” by Eddie James. They did a great job and the Spirit of God was truly present. We are thankful for the time and dedication they gave to minister to us all!

The Sunday morning sermon was entitled “I Can Only Imagine.” In I Corithians 2 Paul writes about the Wisdom of God versus the wisdom of men. In the midst of this in verse 9, he mentions that “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” Paul was trying to inform the Corinthians of great wealth or great knowledge that would be given. He was explaining to them that God has things for them that their minds could not even imagine. We can not even imagine the things that God has planned, prepared, and purposed for us as well. God has great things for you, but not in our wisdom or understanding- only in His. If we want to recognize and see these things we must take the context of this chapter and learn three things - 1) Mature/Grow up in Christ, 2) Not listen to our (or others) wisdom (man’s), and 3) Listen to the Holy Spirit who reveals the great mysteries of God. If we will follow these steps we will experience what we can now only imagine!

The Holy Spirit in the Church

Sunday, February 27th was a great day at Leesburg Church.

During our morning service, the Word of God was presented on the Holy Spirit and His role within the church. We read of all the names that the Holy Spirit is described by in the Bible, but we often lower His importance within the church. We speak of the Comforter (the peace) the conviction of His Spirit- and so on. However, we forget or at least often diminish, the full role He is to have in the church. Jesus said when He ascended into Heaven that He would send the ‘Comforter’ and Jesus said he would ‘guide’ you. We must remember that the Holy Spirit is not just some heavenly being, He is God; God is the Holy Spirit. You cannot separate Jesus from the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is three in one and one in three. If we are to do the work Jesus has intended for us, if we desire to be more than a social club, we must be in tuned to the Holy Spirit and following His lead. While the Holy Spirit is the ‘Great Counselor’ we cannot treat Him like He is just one of many we consult as the church and we will filter what we want to hear and do. NO - we must submit to the Holy Spirit and He will lead us.

Lead us on Holy Spirit - Lead us ON!

Arise Sleeping Giant and Souper Bowl Fellowship

Sunday was filled with lots of wonderful things. As on most first Sunday’s our Children’s Ministries came out front to participate in our worship as they led us in two songs. The second song they sang was very moving as you could hear the children even above the CD and the Holy Spirit was ministering as they sang.
During our morning service we heard the Word of God from Ephesians 5:14.
Ephesians 5:14 (NKJV)
Therefore He says:
“ Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

We were encouraged to personally, as a local church, and as a makeup of the global Church to arise from the state of sleep that satan has rocked us into and awake to the Giant God has destined us each to become and be within His bride. Then we are promised that Christ will give us light-or ‘illuminate us’ through His Spirit and revelation to His plan and call upon each of us and our church. LET US RELEASE THE GIANT IN US ALL!!

Sunday night we celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with our version “Souper Bowl Fellowship” We had several enter their best receipts of different soups and chili. At the end of the night the best soup beat the best chili to make it two years in a row. Sister Sandra F. won and received a apron that was embroidered with ‘2011 Souper Bowl Champion.’ Congrats also goes to Josh D., the young man who won the chili ‘league’ and came in second. It was a fun night for all!!

Be Renewed by the Holy Spirit

We Praise God for the presence of the Holy Spirit!

The Lord had a Word that was direct and specific to each one present Sunday morning. The Lord had moved upon the pastor in the late hours of Saturday to change the direction for that morning. The Lord’s Word was “My people need to be ReNewed.” God spoke with Power and Annointing that He had a place of Renewal that would change the very appearnance of those seeking it. People that we pass or meet would see the visual effects of the ReNewed Spirit inside of us. As Jesus’ appearance changed, ours will as we allow the Holy Spirit to ReNew our innermost- it will effect our outermost.

Be encouraged to let God ReNew your Spirit- let the Holy Spirit transfigure you today!

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NASB)

Slaying your Golden Calf

Sunday was an awesome day at the Leesburg Church. The Holy Spirit was strong and the anointing was powerful.
The Lord spoke from the text of Exodus 32, specifically verses 1-6. The key of the sermon was that the ‘god’ the people of Israel wanted Aaron to make to led them was not an abandonment of Jehovah. The study of the word ‘gods’ that they used was not a term for multiple gods but of the one God- it is the same term used when Genesis records ‘God created...’ in the original Hebrew. The point was this, they wanted to create their own form or view of the one God. They were not guilty of serving other gods but of trying to make THE GOD in the form they wanted. In other words they wanted God to do what they wanted, when they wanted, and how they wanted. They were specifically tired of how long Moses was taking with God and they wanted it now- so they Formed them a god.
Do we not do the same thing? Do we not try to make God in our form? We all have Golden Calves in our lives if we are honest- areas that we have tried to make God fit our form or image.

Let’s break some golden calves and allow the true God to be the only form we see!

Sunday morning Pastor Josh shared a sermon titled Emanuel: Godwith Us. Jesus came for many reasons but He also came to be with us. How wonderful to serve the real God that wants to be with you, to spend time with you. The presence of God is so special and we are so blessed to have Him come to be WITH US.
Sunday night was our Christmas programs. Our drama team did a great job with their program as they dramas with a scene from Bethlehem and the world today. They ended with a wonderful signing of Silent Night. Our children also blessed us as they searched for the missing Christmas only to find Christmas’ true meaning. After service we enjoyed lots of food and fellowship with our many visitors and church family. We thank God for a wonderful day.www.TheLeesburgChurch.org

Update on Haiti

Below is an email that I received from Bishop Tim McCaleb who is heading up the rebuilding of Haiti on behalf of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Hello Everyone,

I just returned from Haiti, and I wanted to give you an update. Progress continues to be made on the orphanage. The wall is almost complete around the property, a new $50,000.00 generator has been purchased and donated by an outside group, and the generator is on site. Two of the bungalows have been renovated, and they are now adequate to house workers. Forty-six of the children have been moved back to the property. Also, the school at the orphanage is now functioning with about two hundred children in attendance each day (most of these children are from the community). Plans are being made for the rebuilding of dorms and the church. (See some of the pictures below)

Nine of us (Tim McCaleb, Ted Cooper, Rhonda Cooper, Curtis Sutton, Gigi Byrd, Joyce Miller, Lenda Gunter, Jim and Paulette Ramsey) carried Christmas to the orphans. It was a great party! We ate, gave gifts, and the children sang and performed skits for us. We were told that the children had never had anything like it before.

Four teams are going in January from Wyoming, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Eastern Canada to continue this work and to start new projects. Other teams are planned in the coming months.

Sunday morning was a wonderful day at Leesburg Church. We were reminded that scripture tells us that we are to give thanks in EVERYTHING and at ALL TIMES! Let us have a wonderful season of holidays through the eyes and hearts of gratitude and not the rush of the time. If we can focus on giving thanks it will allow us all to focus on the real reason to this Thanksgiving but also the Christmas season coming quickly upon us.

Sunday night the Lord ministered in a special way. The Holy Spirit filled the building with such a sweet spirit. We looked to I Corinthians 12 were we learn about spiritual gifts. We have been given many gifts to minister to the needs of people. The Lord has been reminding us that He is the healer, the power of the miraculous. We had a time of special prayer for gifts to be released upon the church both locally and globally. We then had a wonderful time of prayer for those sick and needing a miracle. God moved in a wonderful way and we are so grateful for His love to His children!

Overcoming Obstacles in Pursuit of your dreams

Sunday we continued looking at how to live out the God given dream in each of us. God has created each of us for a wonderful and unique purpose. Yet many give up as they start out on their journey and find that some of the closest people around them seemingly try to stop them. Some of the people are meaning well and others just don't want you to live our your dream. The ones that mean well often will operate out of the fear of risk, or they just want you and them to hang on to the traditions that they are comfortable with, and yet others just don't think you could ever really do it. As well there are people that know that if you walk in your dream then they will loose something and they don't want you to do it. Just keep your heads up and look for the friends that God will send you (and youwill convert some of those opposing you by sharing your dream better). No matter where they started these friends will be your encouragement to live out the dream. God will also send some your way that have walked down the road you are traveling and they will teach you and share the wisdom to live the dream.

Don't stop - You can live the dream God has given you! That is why God gave it to you right?

We also were blessed to receive two new members into the Leesburg Church. Praise God!

Continuing 'Escaping Ordinary'

This Sunday Pastor Josh continued the Sermon Series "Escaping Ordinary." Last week we looked to how God has placed a dream inside of us all- our God Given Purpose/Dream. This Sunday we were encouraged to push past our comfort zones and the invisible wall of fear we each face as we seek to fulfill our God Given Dream. We all have a comfort zone that is easy for us but our dream is not fulfilled inside that zone. Once we are ready to walk out our dream we will find ourselves approaching the limits of our comfort zone. The end is a wall of fear that we will must push through to ever fulfill our purpose in God. In His (God's) strengths we are made strong - not ours. As we step past the wall of fear and outside of our comfort zones we have truly stepped into faith and trusting God fully to help us fulfill the plan He has for our lives.

Let's all choose to leave our Comfort Zones and pursue God's plans!

New Series- Escaping Ordinary

Wouldn't you like to escape sometimes? Truth is we all would at times.

This Sunday we begin a new series title 'Escaping Ordinary.' We learned that we have permission of God to escape our mundane and 'ordinary' lives. The reason you may ask. Sure, it is because you were not made to be normal- or Ordinary. In Bruce Wilkerson's book 'The Dream Giver' he speaks of us all as 'Ordinary' living in a town of 'Familiar' with a bunch of 'Nobodies.' Not to glamorous but often how many feel. The reality is just like Moses we have a 'Big Dream' inside of us. This is given to us by God. Often all you know is a small deposit or seed of this dream (calling, passion, gift, talent, ministry, etc.) yet if you will trust that God did uniquely form your for a purpose then you to can begin your escape from Ordinary.

A great Harvest Weekend!

Last weekend was a great weekend. Saturday we had our Harvest Fest with games and food for our community. We was so blessed to see over 100 visitors from our community come out to enjoy the festivities. Door Prizes were given away and a hayride completed the evening. It was a great day. We were so blessed for each one that got to come out to enjoy the evening.

On Sunday Morning we had our Children's Day. We had a guest ministry team, Kingdom Kids with Pastor Zack. The ministered with puppets, videos, games, and much more. Both young and old enjoyed the day. At the end 7 kids and 1 adult came forward to pray the prayer of salvation. What a blessed day it turned out to be! Praise God. We finished the morning with several great door prizes (bikes, DVD player with screens for the car, iPod, and a firepit).

Sunday night the church had a Fall Fellowship were each one enjoyed games and food. It was a nice relaxing evening with our church family.

We have been studying Spiritual Gifts and how they make us work as a team better within the Church. It is amazing to know that it takes all the gifts to make the church function 'Healthy' and none are more important than another.

The Outreach Team has been working hard to prepare for this year's Harvest Fest. It is this Saturday from 4 - 7 PM. We pray that God would bless many but specifically we desire to serve others. We are here to serve our community as Christ would do. We desire to glorify Christ in all we do!

Show me the Love

This weekend was great! Saturday was a wonderful day. The Leesburg Church Outreach Team was involved in the town's Leesburg Day. They have away over 1100 bottles of water and cards with the Church's information on it. People seemed so happy to see the church giving things away. So many ask about the church and some even said they were looking for a church. Who knows what God will do from here?

Sunday was a special day at The Leesburg Church. The morning service we heard about "Show me the Love." People are looking for true love that only c

omes from God. We must show them the love of God read about in 1 Corinthians 13.

Sunday night was a powerful service. There was such an awesome presence of the Lord in the service. Several came up for prayer during worship and God ministered to them. One lady called after service to share that God had healed her. Praise God!

Wednesday night we continue the class on 'Gifted to Serve' by taking our Spiritual Gifts assessment. Come join us!

A Blessed Year- Finish Strong

We have declared that 2010 was going to be a blessed year for us as a church, as individuals both physically and spiritually. Often we loose focus of our hopes, expectations, and even dreams as time passes by us. The same is true with a new year. We started off 2010 believing in blessings- in our family, at work, at church, in our personal relationship with God- but sometimes life and mistakes get in the way. We learn from Peter that we don't have to give up. Recommit yourself to a blessed 2010. God wants to bless you. He does it for you but for His glory- His praise. Don't give up, don't let mistakes and failures keep you from reaching for the blessings of the Lord. Trust Him- Focus on Him- and FINISH STRONG! Let 2010 be a blessed year!

A Healthy Church is Gifted and Serves

Sunday we finished the series of 'A Healthy Church' at an encouraging sermon about how each one is "Gifted 2 Serve." Pastor shared about how 'A Healthy Church' is not just the leaders doing ministry but the ones in the pews/chairs doing ministry. That God has gifted each one with special gifts and they can do something that no one else can do. To reach our full potential of our church, we must discover and use our gifts individually towards the common mission God has given the church. No matter what ones expirence has been in life, God will use it all to reach places that seem unreachable. We are 'GIFTED 2 SERVE!'

Sunday night was also a great evening as we had Bro. Stacy Tuttle preach a wonderful sermon titled 'Bloody Issue.' His wife also sang a wonderful song with an awesome talent given by God. It was a wonderful night.

Community Outreach is key to a Healthy Church

Sunday we looked at one of the other core components to being a 'Healthy Church.' A 'Healthy Church' must reach it's community as an essential and central focus of all it does. Jesus spent most of His time outside of the temple reaching basic needs to meet spiritual needs. It was interesting to see that when we commonly use the term 'Jesus Public Ministry' we are saying more than His 'known' ministry but actual the ministry He did in the streets, on the mountaintops, and in the homes.

In Ezekiel 34 we see a prophecy of both the 'bad shepherds (leaders)' and the 'good shepherd (Jesus).' Jesus is given as the one who will care for the needs of these people yet we are the body of Christ. He has choose to use us as His 'hands and feet.' So we are the tools of Jesus to fulfill this prophecy. Here are the five areas we must cover to be reaching those in our community for the Glory of Christ.

1- Feed the hungry

2- Strengthen the diseased/Heal the sick

3- Bind up the broken

4- Brought in the driven away

5- Sought the Lost

A Healthy Church is a House of Prayer

Sunday we continued our search to become a 'Healthy Church.' We cannot forget to be a Biblical Healthy Church we must not forget the most basic element, Prayer. Jesus stated "my house will be a house of Prayer.' This means that we cannot forget to pray or to just do it as a routine. We must seek the Heavenly Father to hear His voice to guide us to a 'New Height' as a local church.

Looking Forward to our Future

Sunday morning Pastor Josh was back in the pulpit after being away for a few Sundays at the Church of God of Prophecy's International Assembly that was held in Greensboro, NC. He shared how great the services where and to see what great revival is breaking out across our world today. God has truely been doing wonderful things in the church today.

Pastor Josh preached about the foundation to all of our future vision by starting a series of sermons' titled "A Healthy Church." He spoke that while we will use different ministries and they will each have their pu

rpose they all must work towards the vision of being "A Healthy Church." The first of these sermons was focused on how the early church in the book of Acts was only able to do the work of the church after they were filled by the Holy Spirit. He spoke that we should join in the theme of the Assembly by embracing the moving of the Holy Spirit by "Pursing His Spirit.' Only then can we operate as "A Healthy Church" as we

read about in Acts. Sunday night Pastor Josh continued the them of 'Pursing His Spirit,' by encouraging everyone to take a few steps deeper as recorded in Ezekiel 47. If we are ankle deep go a little deeper into the moving Holy Spirit to a knee deep. If you are knee deep go out waist deep, and if you are waist deep go out to the depth that you can only swim in His Spirit.

Fourth of July Services

Sunday was another great day at the Leesburg Church. We enjoyed wonderful worship and the Word of God during our morning service. Our sermon was the Responsibility to express our freedom in Christ. Our first right and responsibility is to Praise the Lord. No matter if we are in a valley or on a mountain, it is time to praise the Lord. As Paul and Silas did in their prison cell, let us praise the Lord. We are only truly free when we live out our freedom!

Sunday night we had a great time of celebration and fellowship. We had a program of celebration for the Fourth of July - our nations Independence. It was a great time to look back and remember our founding fathers intent and see the love and time given to make us free today. After our program we enjoyed food, fun, fellowship, and games. People stayed at the church enjoying conversations well past our normal service times. It was a great evening.

Leesburg Church Ladies Volleyball Team

Our ladies volleyball team played their second home game Monday night. They played one of the toughest teams in the area and played a great game. Many from the church came out in support of our ladies. It was a great night of fellowship and watching a great volleyball game.

Sunday morning God's presence was so strong. Their was such a move of God that their was no preaching during the morning service. God ministered to set people free and to relieve burdens of those who were heavy. People came to the altar and sought God for their breakthrough. Others worshiped the Lord for their freedom. The Lord is moving us to a place of freedom lived out.

Sunday night was a wonderful night with a totally different feeling in the air. Many people ministered through song. One of our new ladies shared through a special song and wow what a amazing voice she had. Thank you Lord for blessing us with new people. Pastor Josh preached about "Running the Race of Endurance." We are to forget and lay down anything that would prevent us from running our best race for Christ. We need to finish the race strong, not give up when the race is hard, and not loose focus on the journey. Let us run the race to finish stronger than we started!

Father's Day Program

Father's Day at The Leesburg Church was a great day. Our ladies presented a program of humor and truth based upon the theme 'Wizard of Oz.' The children helped in the program and added so much to it. It was a great program and a blessing to the church.

After the program Pastor Josh shard a word that 'Good Men' have treasures of good stored up in them. We have 'Good Men' at Leesburg Church who work hard and give all they have to provide to their family and to the church. As children and wives to the 'Good Men' we each have a Biblical responsibility to honor and encourage them to be all that God has made them to be and to allow them to led our families.

First Sunday in June

Praise the Lord. Sunday was a great day at Leesburg. God was with us and we are so blessed with His presence. On the first Sunday's of each month our children come and join us in our worship. They also led some of the worship in two songs that they sing during Children's Church. They did such a great job. We are so blessed with a great group of children.

Sunday night we also honored our students for all their accomplishments during the latest school year. We had some graduate college, kindergarten, and Pre-K. The list of accomplishments for the recent school year was wonderful. We are so proud of our young people.

Big Shot Camp

Saturday was Big Shot camp and we had 5 children attend. We had a great time riding down to the camp and the children had a great time. For most of the parents is was the first time to visit or attend any camp. The kids played and enjoyed themselves to the point of being completely wore out. The moms stated that they had a great time also.

This picture is from the opening session. The kids got to see a live lamb, chicken, and a duck. They did such a great job. The parents and kids cannot wait until next year!

Pentecost Sermon Series-The Anointing

Sunday morning we finished our three week look at the Pentecost. We ended with the need we have in the Anointing of the Lord. Jesus shared in Luke 4 his Anointing that prepared and allowed him to minister to so many with so many miracles. We need the full experience of the Holy Spirit in and operating in our lives today. We need to not just experience the moving of the Holy Spirit, but we need the filling of the Spirit. It is interesting to note the quote Jesus read from Isaiah- Jesus said 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me.' Jesus was anointed by God so the Spirit of the Lord was upon him. Seems if we want to follow after the example of Jesus we would be good to seek for God's anointing so that the Spirit of the Lord would be upon us as well.

The Day of Pentecost has arrived!

Sunday was the celebration of the Day of Pentecost. What a wonderful day to remember and celebrate the first time the Holy Ghost moved upon the early church. The disciples had waited 10 days for the great promise sent by Jesus. Then the third person in the Trinity descended down upon them and changed not only their life but the entire world. What would happen to us- the modern church, to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit as did the disciples? Today we lack respect and honor for the person of the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost). We often act as if He is something we can put on a shelf until we want an emotional feeling from God. As if He was only their for our high energy worship services but He is so much more. He is God the Holy Spirit. He is with us, so that we are empowered and able to BE the Church.

Let's remember that God in the form of the Holy Spirit came down from Heaven to fill up with Power from on High.

Pentecost is coming!

In less than one week we will be celebrating the Day of Pentecost. The Day of Pentecost is a Jewish holiday celebrating the harvesting of wheat. Yet to the Christian Church it is the day we celebrate the Holy Spirit was sent to us as believers. Yet before Jesus could send the Holy Spirit, he said he must leave- and go to the father. He prepared the disciples for his departure and prepared them for the 'promise.' The promise of the Holy Spirit was an act of faith for the disciples to believe in, yet to believe in Christ was visual and took a different kind of faith to trust. Yet to see the Day of Pentecost come, the disciples must have a new level of faith.

Mother's Day

Sunday was a great day to celebrate the many mothers that make up the Leesburg Church. The house was packed with a great crowd of family, friends, and visitors. Deacon Danny St.Clair led the wonderful Mother's Day program to honor our mothers. We enjoyed several videos and laughed through poems. The men presented all of the mothers with a gift to show a small act of our gratitude.

First Sunday in May

What a wonderful day. Their was an excitement in the air that God was with us. It is such a great blessing from God to not only know He is with you but to feel a His wonderful presence. We finished our series on being Transformed. Last week we focused on 'Transformed by the Potter.' We heard how we are to allow the Potter to make us, to form us to the perfect image of Himself. God has the perfect plan for us if we will allow Him to do the work of the Potter and not remove ourselves from His wheel. This week we focused on 'Transformed by the Renewing of our Minds.' If we are going to be and do all for Christ and be a winner in this race we must allow the Holy Spirit to make our minds new. We need to think like Christ- 'put on the mind of Christ.' Let us not loose our battle in our mind- let us see and think as the Spirit would guide us.

Beautiful Sunday!

It has been beautiful both in the weather and the spirit of God. Just imagine when we come to the House of God with expectation of God bringing answers, direction, and blessing into our live. Sunday's sermon was about how Adam and Eve were given direction of how to live in the Garden, but in their own knowledge they chose what they perceive or judge as 'good.' Yet we are not to make decisions of our own knowledge but the direction and knowledge of God. Let us look deeply into the Word of God and to listening to the Voice of God to see how He would choose to bless our lives for His Glory!

Sunday night we were honored to have Bishop James Adkins in service with us. He made a wonderful surprise to visit us. As he shared a testimony of God's blessings he stated 'I may not be kicking as high as I use to but I am still kicking.' What a wonderful testimony from a man of God!

Missions Sunday

Sunday was Missions Sunday at the Leesburg Church.

We had a guest speaker - James Clanton, that shared about a wonderful opportunity to see 20,000 to 25,000 people saved in June. It was great to hear the plan not only to see them saved but to see them mature in Christ. For only about $1 a soul we could join in supporting this project. The church gave wonderfully in the offering and some chose to give a pledge to give by the end of April. Bro. James also preached about 'The Goodness of God.' It was a blessed morning - Praise God!

Sunday night was a powerful service. The Spirit of God moved as hands were up worshipping and voices were singing praises to our King. It was a wonderful spirit that we could not leave. The pastor shared a short sermon on the need to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. We are not to have one interaction with the third person on the trinity but a continued relationship with Him to be filled! Many came to the altars to be FILLED yet again. Latter 2 people came to the altar seeking the Holy Ghost. Then a young girl came (6 years old) and got saved as she was praying. Praise God for a great weekend!

Easter Sunday- What does Easter mean to me?

Easter was a great day at the Leesburg Church.

Our Easter program was wonderful. Sister Wanda Ivey did a fantastic job of putting together not only a visual reminder of the death and resurrection of Christ, but also the actual meaning it has to both you and I. Our actors showed us that no matter how good or bad we are in this live, neither will get us to heaven or will forfeit the ability through Christ to get to Heaven one day. It also showed that Jesus desires to walk with us now, not just in Heaven.

We also enjoyed sharing the communion with 'Jesus' serving us 12 at a time. A great thought it what it must have been like to the disciples.

The children sang to us as they do on first Sunday. It was joy to us to see them begin to sing with passion. We had 27 enjoy our Children's Church. With 6 of them receiving Christ- Praise God.

Also to note, we broke the all time record of attendance with 122 (previously 118). Praise the Lord!

BUT the best thing is that in total we had 8 people get saved! (6 from our children, 1 youth, and 1 adult). Praise God!

We ended our day with a huge Easter Egg Hunt. The church property was full of children (and family) looking for eggs. It was such a joy to see. A special thank you to Sister Christina Callantine for putting this together.

Palm Sunday

Sunday was a great day. Our kids participated in our worship and our celebration of Palm Sunday. They came in waving palm branches in a visual presentation of what Jesus rode into Jerusalem that wonderful day. Our worship was great and the day was fantastic.

Our sermon was on the thought of 'Two Roads- One Week.' Jesus had two very different roads he traveled in preparing for the Holy week of Passover. He was honored on one road and treated miserably on the other road. Yet both roads was the way towards His purpose. Each of us in part can identify with the different roads Jesus traveled. We all have had moments with great praise and moments with great discouragement. Yet if we are to fulfill our God given purpose to this world, then we to must press through both the distraction of the praise and lack of support of the opposition.

A wonderful feeling

Praise the Lord. What a wonderful feeling in the air this Sunday. Watching Sister Goza get 'happy' is always a great joy. Every song we sang had a great spirit of the Lord moving in it. Thank God!

Our Sunday morning sermon was from Zacchaeus as he climbed up the tree to see Jesus. What if we endured to see Jesus with such measures? What if we desired to see Him that much? For those that seem to think of themselves as lower or not as good as Bro. or Sister 'so-n-so' rebuke that feeling. You are God's creation. Zacchaeus was rich but was hated and considered more know for his 'sin' than anything else. He had sold out his own people, yet Jesus was more than happy to go to his home. God wants to come to your home, sit with you, and in the end bless you no matter who you are or what you have done. You are as good as anyone else- Hold your head up you are a child of the most High KING!

Sunday night we felt the Lord just as strong. We were reminded that God wants to speak to us, bless us, and direct us- yet He will meet the level of our seeking Him. Let us cry out with dedication and commitment to SEEK the Lord. A new 'Covenant to Seek the Lord!'

A feeling in the air!

Sunday was a wonderful day at Leesburg. During our time of prayer with some of our elders praying for those in need several were touched for healing and other needs in their lives. Pastor Josh preached about how as we see the signs of the end times coming closer and closer, we are not to hid our heads. Yet we are to be like the 5 wise virgins who had their lamps full of oil (the Holy Spirit) and be 'doing' when the Lord returns fulfilling our purpose in Him.

Sunday night we had a several guest with us to come enjoy the ministry of John and Alexis Williams. The Williams sang and played some worship songs and Bro. John preached to us. We were blessed by their ministry as several came to the altars. Thank God for HIS touch!

First Sunday in March

On Sunday morning, Pastor Josh and his family was out of town for a family baby dedication that was held in Knoxville, TN. Associate Pastor Isaac Goza conducted and preached the morning service. Bro. Isaac has always served the local church very faithfully and has done a great job in doing it. We are so blessed to have such a man serving God's people.

Sunday night the area churches meet at the Collinsville Church of God of Prophecy - Harvest Center- for a service conducted by the state youth ministries headed up by State Youth Director Tim Beck. Over 20 people from the Leesburg Church attended the service. Many have already said how they enjoyed the service. During the service our Youth Director, Corey Ivey, and Pastor Josh ministered to a young man in the fellowship hall through some very heavy issues. At the end of the evening the young man prayed for repentance and ultimately to give everything to God. Praise God, He saves in the alter and at the table. Thank God!

A day of Healing

Sunday we finished our focus on Stewardship as we talked about giving and the blessings of being a good steward. Yet the most memorable event of the the day was God's touch to many during a time of prayer for healing. So many have been afflicted in their bodies. We felt the Lord leading us to pray and stand for healing. We read several scriptures to build our faith on God's healing power and the fact He has given us the authority to heal in His name. Many came up for prayer as those that was full of faith laid hands on them to recover. We felt the Lord move and touch hearts throughout the congregation. We have heard of several that are feeling much better by the Lord's help. The one testimony that seems to stand out the strongest was a dear saint. She shared how she could not put any weight on her left leg or foot. She was using a walking cane to get around. After prayer she began to move and walk around without the walker. She said she went home and put it over in one side of the room and came back to church without it. Praise God ! He still HEALS!

Great Sunday

We had a great day at Leesburg Church Sunday.

We had two new members join the church- Praise God! Darrell and Sarah Pierce joined the church. Darrell was a charter member many years ago. We are so thankful for this wonderful family.

We also had the wonderful benefit of dedicated a child to the Lord. The Crane's dedicated little Janey to the Lord. We are so thankful for what God will do in this life!

With a vote for a dollar each soup and chili will compete to win it's 'division' (Soup Division or Chili Division). Then those to leagues will face off in the 'SOUPER BOWL.' Bishop Artis Decker Obituary

Rev. Artis L. Decker age 82 of Leesburg passed away Thursday January 14, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Decker will be 3: P.M. Sunday at Leesburg Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Wayne Craig, assisted by state overseer Rev. L.V. Jones, and Rev. Joshua Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Memory Garden. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:P.M. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Scott Elrod, Clint Decker, Eric Bridges and Kris Parker, Great – Grandsons: Owen Mackiewicz and Josh Decker, and Brian Lowe and Dustin StClair. Honorary Pallbearers: Danny St.Clair, Isaac Goza, James Pitts, Jimmy Bridges.

Memorials may be made to the Leesburg Church of God of Prophecy Haiti church relief fund or the family will accept flowers.

Mr. Decker is survived by his wife Reba Nell Copeland Decker; son Kenneth (Sarah) Decker, Leesburg; daughters: Brenda (Billy) Elrod, East Gadsden, Nona (Jimmy) Bridges, Gadsden, Lisa Mosley, Oxford; sister; Evelyn Hull, McCalla, Al. Grandchildren; Scott and Jody Elrod, Clint Decker, Eric Bridges, Kaci Decker Lowe, Kris Parker, Randa Morgan, Three - Great-Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Decker was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Parker; brother: Clarence W. Decker; sister; Tommie Lou Decker.

Mr. Decker was known in Cherokee county as “Brother Decker.” For over forty years his ministry included conducting many marriages, funerals, baby dedications, and saw many souls come to know the Lord. He retired from pastoral work in July 1999. The Lord has a record of all he has done and will reward him in heaven.

Christmas Play Weekend

We had a great weekend at the Leesburg Church. We finished up our parties Friday night with our Adult Sunday School Party and our Youth Christmas Party. Both was well attended and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Sunday was a big day. We had our morning service were we heard about the Mercy Seat within the tabernacle of us and how it was the birth of Christ that led to the blood of Christ that was shed on that Mercy Seat. We ended our morning service with the Lord's Supper/Communion. Most everyone seemed to partake and the day ended on a great thought.

Sunday night was our Christmas program. Our children started us off after a Christmas song. They did a great job. Then our Adult play was introduced and performed. They all did a great job. We had only given them a little over a month to put a program together since we were out of the sanctuary, yet that made it look great. The story of a family who had lost a job and in the end found Christ in their home was a great reflection of what God can do in our current economical state. We were blessed with 93 for our program. Most stayed after for our fellowship and snacks (that was great!).

This past weekend the Young Adults had a great time at the Christmas Party, Outback in Rome, GA. We had 15 join with us for a great time.

Sunday we had a wonderful day with baby Jayden being dedicated to the Lord. We were so thankful for the 83 that joined with us during the morning Service.

Wednesday Night-

Bible Study- 7 pm with Youth, Children, Young Adults, and Adult studies

Great Weekend

We had a great service in our updated sanctuary for the first time. We had a great time looking at what work has been done over the last few months. We heard some thoughts from our pastor about going to 'New Heights' as a church. God is moving us to deeper places or rather 'from glory to glory' in these days. Our drama team ministered as well. We ended the service with taking in 6 new members into our local church. We had a wonderful church dinner and fellowship following the service.
Sunday night we had a area youth service. We had several area church youth groups attend the service. It was great to see so many youth gathered at the church. It was a great time!

Thanksgiving Week

Have a great Thanksgiving week with all your family. We will not have Wednesday night service due to the Holiday on Thursday. This week our new church chairs will be delivered and our old church pews will be picked up. We are so happy that at the perfect time God moved to sell our pews so we don't have to store them for any period of time.

Wednesday night the Praise Team will have a practice. This will help dial in the sound system as well as prepare for our first Sunday back in the sanctuary.

Thursday- Thanksgiving- Eat, enjoy family, and be Thankful for all God has done in your life.

Saturday morning - 7:30 Ladies are meeting at the church to eat breakfast and come back to the church to do a cleaning on the church.

Sunday morning- FIRST SUNDAY BACK IN THE SANCTUARY- PRAISE GOD!
